Meet our Founder

Doc-Brady-profilepic

Dr. Brady, Ed.D, Psy.D  (Retired)

Doc Brady had a vision back in 1994 to make the practice of hypnosis/hypnotherapy a respectable field. Back then people said " its voodoo, it's witch craft, its against my religion, it's making people do and say things against their will." All of course are not true, but it was the common belief at the time as many of you may remember.

The organizations offering hypnosis at the time were all over the place with no consistency or uniformity, not with the courses offered and not with the designations after your name once you completed their courses and what was worse; they often outright lied. They said things like "we are the oldest," "we are the largest," and "we are the only hypnosis organization that is accredited or legal" all which were lies at the time.

So, Doc Brady, with his own money and insight, started this organization in 1994 and vowed to clean up the field of hypnosis and make it a field that anyone who worked in it could be proud of and hold their head up high. He vowed to make it a prestigious field unto itself with uniformity. Thus the name, The National Board of Professional and Ethical Standards was born. Little did he know at the time within a few years it would become the number one hypnosis/hypnotherapy organization in the world.

Doc Brady started first by offering quality courses at prices that anyone could afford and by producing all of our own material in house, with low payments and no interest or carrying charges. He put a board of directors together with some of the worlds best and foremost authorities in hypnosis and mental health. He set up a independent ethics board that would oversee ANY and all complaints and this board was headed by a sitting police chief with full authority to make final decisions over any director or student. This would make this organization and its directors above reproach.

Doc Brady started with one basic course and expanded that to more than 30 courses during his 18 year administration. He developed the master hypnotherapy course which is now a standard in the field. He defined the designations after your name and made it uniformed through out the world for all to understand. He made alliances all over the world with other like organizations where there was once only discord, there became associations that would benefit all in this field. NBPES would become the one organization to oversee the ethics worldwide in the field of hypnosis with setting the standards for all to follow, handling complaints on all organizations and students/members worldwide.

It needs to be said none of this would be easy to do. Doc Brady was threatened, he was harassed, his competition to the north would post several blind web sites over several years in an attempt to slander him and his organization, to disgrace him and to run him out of business. The FBI and Interpol was called in to stop such lies, slander and copyright infringement. This however did not stop the Internet slander and posts that would go on for many years to come. They said he was "not a real doctor" they said "he was a fake doctor, he was offering fake degrees." Of course, we did not and do not even offer degrees but that never stopped a good lie from spreading. Doc Brady owned and operated two medical practices called Personal Care Medical Practices, PLLC in Florida during this time and was a professor at a medical college. So much for being a fake.

Thanks to Doc Brady and the affiliations he made, (11) with other organizations around the world The National Board... is now the largest and oldest hypnosis organization in the world; having more members and centers than any other organization in the world.

Doc Brady retired in July 2012 after he was seriously hurt in an accident. Even this fact does not, has not, stopped his old competitors and people from slamming him and accusing him of all kinds of things. Despite all this he never wavered in his work or dedication, and thank God for that. We think it's very sad that such a great man who has done so much for so many, thousands of students in fact, he has done maybe even more than any other living person for the benefit of hypnosis was/is treated with such disrespect by people who do not know him and have never even met him! Jealousy? We will let you decide.

For our part we will miss him and his contribution to this organization that he built.
